Erwin Auer - 223km on the Core 2
Erwin Auer is well-known for his long flatland flights in Germany. Even as the season is just getting underway, he is again making a mark.
He writes:
When I arrived in Oberemmendorf (north of Munich) on 1 April, I was more than surprised by the sheer number of cross-country pilots on launch. The conditions were at times very demanding, with strong thermals and strong winds. I was very low, especially at the Haustein, and was really bumped around in very demanding lee-thermals.
Strangely enough, it was in these sorts of conditions in particular that I felt very comfortable with the glider. It let me know how much brake it needed and when.
