NEW | Arcus RS XS
Successful type-test certification with EN-B for 55-75 kg!
Our goal in developing the Arcus RS XS was to create a wing that provides about the same performance potential as the other sizes in the Arcus RS range for a take-off weight of about 60kg. We did a lot of experimentation with various wing areas and the correct position for the B-level to achieve this goal. The profile of the Arcus RS reacts less sensitively to changes in wing-loading in combination with the RAST system, and for this reason the ARCUS RS XS demonstrates stable and balanced flight behaviour with precise handling across the entire weight range.
Gudrun Öchsl, member of SWING’s development team and test pilot, on the Arcus RS XS:
“Its trim speed is the same as the others sizes of the ARCUS RS. This isn’t something that can be taken for granted, and we worked on that for a long time. Obviously we don’t want XS pilots to be brought to a standstill by even a 30 km/h valley wind. The handling of the ARCUS RS XS is smooth in the upper range and direct and precise. It’s a good idea to use both steering input and weight-shifting. And the Arcus RS XS is no more demanding than the other sizes. On the whole the smallest ARCUS RS is a glider developed with great attention to detail. A dream glider in our view!“
This makes the Arcus RS XS ideally suited for pilots weighing between approx. 45 and 60kg, depending on the gear used. For a take-off weight near the top of the weight limit of 75kg, we recommend the Arcus RS S (70-95kg) if there is any doubt, as this also works very well in the lower weight range.
The RS XS will be available from mid-late November.
