The Stratus 5 has already proved to be a top competition glider. In 2004 and 2005 Stratus 5-pilots such as Alfredo Studer and André Bussmann dominated the leading positions in the international OLC. Michael Hartmann, successful SWING designer and competition pilot, has now been able to make yet another substantial improvement to the Stratus concept. The new design emphasizes its nature as a pedigree.

Stratus 6 in the world record attempt!

The Swiss pilots Alfredo Studer and André Bussmann chose the STRATUS 6 when they went to the South African desert for their ambitious goal of making an attempt on the world paragliding distance record. Alfredo says "The STRATUS 6 is exactly the right glider for a plan such as this. I wouldn't want to compromise on a high level of safety in such a remote area, even with a competition glider".

Is this the glider for me?

Competition flying should be fun too. It is precisely for this reason that top performance must be combined and perfectly attuned with safety and stability. This is reason enough to choose the Stratus 6. The 6 is THE glider for ambitious competition pilots, who want to fly right at the head of the pack. But its balance and stability mean that it can also be flown by experienced cross-country pilots with Breitenerprobung (second stage of DHV Erprobung).

How does the new glider perform?

Even the predecessors of the Stratus 6 were notable for the high degree of canopy stability and good handling. The Stratus 6 also has these qualities. Elaborate tests and alterations to profile and wing construction allowed us to substantially improve its performance yet again. This great glider stands out thans to its improved glide and more accurate centering (even in demanding conditions).  It has much better canopy stability when fully accelerated than other competition gliders. What's more, it ‘bites’ well into thermals and is better than its predecessor with the smallest amounts of lift.

Stratus 6 in 8 sizes

Our designer Michael Hartmann has been able to produce the Stratus 6 concept in 8 different sizes. Comment should be made of the fact that the extremely high performance is a feature of even the smaller sizes. This is something which certainly cannot be taken for granted with a competition glider, which makes it a tough task for any designer. The weight range for each of the 8 sizes is just 6 to 10 kg, which optimizes performance for pilots of all weights from 85 to 145 kg.
