Responding to what pilots want
A survey of competition and cross-country pilots showed that, for many pilots, the glide performance and glider handling up to a speed range of about 55 km/h are the most important criteria for a competition wing.
According to this survey, only a few pilots tapped the full potential of the maximum speed of over 60 km/h.
The development team headed by Michael Hartmann (Swing’s chief designer and test pilot) incorporated these findings when developing the STRATUS 7, and focused on climb performance, lower control pressures and lighter handling.
Differences between the Stratus 7 and the Stratus 7-GS
The two models have practically identical construction when it comes to size, plan form, line geometry and profile. The only differences in the GS version with certification under the LTF* (Lufttüchtigkeitsforderungen / airworthiness requirements) are that it has:
- lower wing-load (and thus lower weight ranges too)
- shorter speed system travel
- lower maximum speed (GS: 54 km/h open class 60km/h)
- LTF 2-3 certification (making it suitable for "serial class")
All other features are more or less identical between the two models.
...…and what do our test pilots think?
The STRATUS 7 behaves so well in extreme flying and is so manageable that, on the strength of the experiences of our test pilots, the STRATUS 7 could even still come within the general rating (certification process, DHV 3).
Our advice: contact us straight away to arrange a test-flight!

Special designs
In general there are two ways to individualise the paraglider,
- firstly by a special design (see below) and,
- secondly, by adding an advertising message to it.
Paraglider sponsoring
Here are some facts and information which you may find helpful in finding sponsors or applying for sponsorship.
